In the realm of culinary exploration, one must possess a daring spirit and a taste for the extraordinary.
A Singaporean food enthusiast, known as Calvin (@foodmakescalhappy) on TikTok, has captivated the online community with his audacious and unconventional pairings involving the renowned Chinese cough syrup, Pipagao.
Pipagao is a dense cough syrup characterized by its syrupy consistency and sweet herbal flavour.
This self-proclaimed connoisseur of food has ventured into numerous combinations, including the fusion of Pipagao with the iconic McSpicy.
While many of us may enjoy this cough remedy, Calvin’s affection for Pipagao is on another level entirely.
Calvin revealed that his inspiration to explore Pipagao’s compatibility with different foods stemmed from purchasing the syrup to alleviate a sore throat.
Really loves Pi Pa Gao a lot
The 31-year-old enthusiast also expressed his fondness for Pipagao, primarily attributing it to its inherent sweetness.
Hence, it came as no surprise when Calvin announced that his favourite combination thus far was Pipagao with ice cream.
In his captivating videos, he tantalizes viewers by expertly drizzling the syrup over a cup of ice cream, instantly creating a mouthwatering visual feast.
Reflecting upon the flavours, he likened the experience to “the delightful addition of honey to ice cream.”
Distinct from honey, however, Pipagao imparts a refreshing sensation after consumption.
Everything also add Pi Pa Gao
Following the Pipagao and ice cream masterpiece, Calvin ranked the Pipagao and McSpicy fusion as his next best creation.
He said that “McSpicy is already savoury and spicy. Pipagao adds a delightful sweetness to it, truly making it an incredibly satisfying combination.”
Securing the third and fourth spots on his list were Pipagao with durian and Korean Spicy Noodles, respectively.
With genuine candour, Calvin admitted that although the flavours remained enjoyable, the minty undertones of Pipagao amplified the spiciness of the noodles.
