S’PORE PR ALLEGEDLY WENT FOR MASSAGE WHILE WAITING FOR COVID-19 TEST RESULT, CHARGED

Namaisivayam Sundar, 57-years-old, allegedly had a fever following his return from a business trip, and the Singapore PR was then sent to NCID for a Covid-19 test.

However, Sundar allegedly went to Textile Centre for a massage.

His Covid-19 test result came back positive the next day.

The incident reportedly happened on 25 March, last year.

Sundar was charged in court on 29 January this year for one count under the Infectious Diseases Act.

Not the only offender

Four other people were also alleged to have went to public places despite being issued MC for acute respiratory symptoms, according to MOH.

Bawani Murugaiah, 37-years-old was on three 5-day MCs between 22 July and 29 August last year, of which she allegedly left her home on six of the days to ferry passengers as a private-hire car driver.

She was charged on 28 December last year for 5 counts under the Infectious Diseases Act.

Foo Suan Rong Nick, 22-years-old, was given 3 days MC by a polyclinic after being diaggnosed with acute respiratory infection and he allegedly went to Ion Orchard and Orchard Central after his clinic visit.

The next day, he allegedly went to Woodlands and Somerset.

Ang Siu Yen, 22-years-old, was on a 4-day MC after being diagnosed with upper respiratory tract infection and allegedly left home while on MC to go to Junction 9 Shopping Mall, Bugis Junction as well as the Yew Tee area.

Abdul Rashid Sugianto, 30-years-old, was on two 5-day MCs for acute upper respiratory tract infection, when he allegedly left his home thrice to visit Tampines West Community Centre and Geylang.
