A store owner in Singapore has been caught on camera engaging in a deceptive pricing scheme targeting tourists.
The incident was shared by TikTok user @cooksux, and it shows the store owner manipulating the prices of merchandise after a tourist expressed interest in purchasing a shirt.
In the video, the tourist entered a souvenir shop filled with various items, including hats and t-shirts. He was accompanied by a friend.
Upon spotting a rack of T-shirts, the tourist asked the shopkeeper, “Four for S$10?” The shop displayed a bright yellow sign indicating the prices: “1 for S$4, 3 for S$10.”
Unexpectedly, the shopkeeper reached out and flipped the sign, revealing new prices: “1 for S$10, 2 for S$15.” He chuckled and apologized, saying, “Sorry, sorry.”
The tourist and his friend were taken aback, with the tourist exclaiming, “What… you just changed the… (price)!” His friend also pointed it out.”
The content creator confronted the shopkeeper, questioning his actions and stating, “Wait, why’d you change that? Three for S$10 right here. Come on.”
The shopkeeper attempted to deny the change, but the video creator and his friend called him out for his dishonesty. They insisted that they had witnessed the price manipulation in real-time.
In the video’s closing moments, the content creator and his friend decided to purchase the T-shirts, with the tourist even complimenting the design.

- I even bought a bag it say two $10 but he say one for 10
- he probably just used the wrong side of the signage for the t-shirts. $4 for a tee in s’pore is beyond rare
- Common 1 for $4 that’s ridiculous cheap $, u can’t get tat $. He probably using a recycle flash card from other item. Hence there is a difference $.
- I’ve stayed in Singapore all my life and I’ve never seen this happen bfr to a tourist. Now seeing this I wanna know where it happened
- Is there a law that states that business owners can’t do that? U can choose not to buy it, no need to make a big fuss. TBH, He didn’t force u.
