A 53-year-old Singaporean worker was killed after glass doors fell on him at a warehouse in Alexandra on 2 February.
He was unloading a shipment of glass doors with two other co-workers when the fatal accident happened, resulting in 1 death and 1 injury, the last worker managed to escape unscathed.
This is the 4th workplace fatality in Singapore this year
What happened?
The Ministry of Manpower said in a statement that the incident took place at Harbour Link Complex in Alexandra Terrace on 2 February at about 2.15pm.
The deceased was unloading a shipment of glass doors from a shipping container with 2 other workers when about 9 glass doors fell on them.
Two of the workers were injured as a result (the third escaped uninjured) and sent to National University Hospital, where the deceased later succumbed to his injuries and died.
The other injured worker is currently in stable condition.
The company, AGL Facade Systems, has been ordered by MOM to stop all work activities and appoint a workplace safety and health auditor to review their workplace practices.
The firm is also banned from hiring new migrant workers for 3 months, and MOM is currently investigating the fatal accident.
