
A luxury condominium in Pattaya which was an underground gambling den was recently raided. The police and the Ministry of Health have raided a luxury condominium in Pattaya and 21 people were arrested for illegal gambling, including a Singaporean gambler.
Pattaya police, tourism police and Ministry of Health officials launched a joint operation at 1 am yesterday (January 9) and went to a condominium at Bang Lamung district, on Jomtien which was located at Pattaya. The Espana Condominium & Resort was raided and the underground gambling den was shut down .
According to reports, law enforcement agencies have received intelligence that some people were conducting illegal gambling operations in the above-mentioned locations and arrested a total of 5 Thais and 16 foreigners, including 14 Chinese, one Cambodian and a Singaporean.
The police discovered that gamblers were gambling in rooms 517 and 518 on the 5th floor of the apartment. After arresting and detaining the persons, they were still investigating whether anyone had escaped and other people involved in the case.
The police revealed that the gamblers were playing poker at the time.
Those arrested include gamblers and criminals involved in operating gambling houses. They will face prosecutions for illegal gambling and illegal gatherings for violating the emergency law implemented due to the coronavirus epidemic.
