The infamous Singaporean Chicken Curry video that sparked outrage and an outpouring of criticism by New York Times, have since been removed by the US newspaper.
“Appreciative of response”
NYT Cooking have since put up a statement on their Instagram page, saying:
“Last week we shared a video of a chicken recipe adapted from a home cook from Singapore.
The video demonstration didn’t faithfully follow the recipe, which was adapted by Clarissa Wei from Shila Das, and it also should have been prepared as part of Ms. Das’s Nasi Biryani recipe.
As a result, the video didn’t do justice to Ms. Das’s family dish or to her Lunar New Year tradition.
After hearing your feedback, we’ve removed the video, and we have clarified the recipe. We’re appreciative of your response.”

The cringe-worthy culinary attempt sparked memes and reactions from the local online community, with even personalities such as Mr Brown sharing his two cents, and even HDB jumping onto the bandwagon, warning people not to pour bad curry into their sinks.
Mr Brown famously described it as looking like “longkang water”.
I personally would describe it as what comes out of me when I lao sai in the toilet.
