A post by Daviest Ong has been circulating on Facebook recently. Ong was recently interviewed by Channel News Asia and he was informed that the news article on him would be based on hygiene. But to his dismay, the focus became the source of his infection.
The article was supposed to be highlighting the changes in his hygiene practices before and after he was diagnosed with Covid-19. To his horror, Channel News Asia decided to sensationalize the headline by stating that he was infected by the Covid-19 virus from a UK party. Ong claimed that it was totally untrue.
Ong specifically mentioned in the interview that till this day, he had no clear indication of how he got the virus yet the headline was “…after a night of partying in the UK”. Ong felt played out and he was subsequently flamed by many netizens who left nasty comments.
CNA then proceeded to amend the post by changing “Singaporean’s long COVID-19 journey after a night of parting in the UK” to Singaporean’s long COVID-19 journey after possible infection at UK party”.
