S’POREAN COUPLE WHO MYSTERIOUSLY DIED IN KL: PRIMARY CAUSE OF DEATH REVEALED

Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur – A tragic incident has unfolded as a couple was found dead in a guesthouse in Cheras, suspected to be a case of self-harm fatality. Preliminary investigations by the police revealed that the windows and doors of the room were sealed with tape, and burnt charcoal was discovered on the premises, indicating that the couple may have taken their own lives by carbon monoxide poisoning. The bodies were reportedly in an advanced state of decomposition, emitting a foul odor, leading authorities to believe they had been deceased for several days. However, the exact cause of death is pending further examination by forensic experts.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Eddie Bahar Shah, head of the Cheras police district, stated that upon receiving a report, officers arrived at the scene to find the air conditioning unit wrapped in garbage bags, with the windows also taped shut. In addition to the burnt charcoal, substances suspected to be ketamine were found in the room. The deceased were identified as a 43-year-old male and a 33-year-old female, both Singaporean citizens. The police are currently investigating their relationship, the duration of their stay at the guesthouse, and their entry into Malaysia.

The guesthouse staff reported that they had knocked on the door multiple times without receiving a response. Eventually, they used a spare key to enter the room, where they found that the air conditioning, fan, and television were still operational. Upon peering through a slightly opened window, they discovered the two individuals lying unresponsive on the bed, with a strong odor emanating from the room. Due to the absence of CCTV surveillance in the guesthouse, the police will need to conduct further inquiries to ascertain the details surrounding the incident.

Additionally, the police are looking into the backgrounds of the deceased. It was noted that the male victim’s residence is located in Puchong, and his Maserati sports car bore a Kuala Lumpur license plate. Authorities have indicated that they will continue to verify the identities of the deceased and whether they had been using drugs.

Following the incident, family members of the deceased arrived at the National University Hospital’s mortuary but declined to speak with the media. Reports suggest that the family intends to repatriate the bodies to Singapore for burial. This incident has garnered significant public attention, and the police are urging anyone with information to come forward to assist in the investigation.
