SPOREAN MAN ACCUSED OF MURDERING WIFE IN UK PLEADS NOT GUILTY

50 y.o Soong Hert Fong, who was previously accused of murder after his wife was found dead at a hotel room in the United Kingdom (UK), pleaded not guilty in a UK’s Newcastle Crown Court today (11 Jan).

Soong’s wife, Pek Ying Ling, was found dead last year on 6 December at County Aparthotel on Westgate Road, Newcastle at around 7:15am.

Paramedics at the scene fought to resuscitate her but their efforts were futile as she had stopped breathing and was subsequently pronounced dead.

Investigations were then carried out which led to the arrest of Soong who was also visiting Newcastle at that time.

Trial date

Soong’s trial date is set to be on 6 June this year and there will be a pre trial hearing conducted on 28 February.

He attended the hearing in prison via a video link, and will continue to be remanded in prison and held in custody.
