Following the earthquakes in Turkey and Syria, the Turkish embassy in Singapore appealed for donations of clothes and supplies for the earthquake victims.
Many Singaporeans responded to the call for help, to the point where the embassy even had to set up a new collection point to deal with the overwhelming outpouring of support.
The Turkish embassy previously posted an appeal for donations on 7 February for clothes and supplies, and Singaporeans showed up in droves with their donations in hand.
Photos of people queuing up at the embassy at SGX Centre Tower emerged on social media, with many kind donors seen with bags and boxes of items that they were planning to donate.
The support was so overwhelming that all the available space in the embassy was used up, and the Turkish embassy announced via a Facebook post on 9 February that they are no longer accepting donations at the SGX Centre Tower.
A new collection point has been set up at 10 Genting Lane until 6pm today (10 February).
Seeking volunteers to help sort & pack donations
An organisation that is collaborating with the Turkish Embassy in Signapore, BravoZulu SG, is appealing for volunteers to help sort and pack the collected items for the earthquake victims.
