StarHub Completes Full Acquisition of MyRepublic Broadband in S$105 Million Deal

StarHub has officially taken full control of MyRepublic Broadband by purchasing the remaining 49.9 per cent stake in the business, marking a significant milestone for the telecommunications company. Previously, StarHub held a 50.1 per cent majority share since 2022.

The acquisition also includes the MyRepublic brand in Singapore and key operational assets tied to its broadband services and operations, as confirmed in a media release on 12 August 2025.

Founded in 2011, MyRepublic Group remains active in Singapore’s telecommunications scene but will retain its virtual mobile business, which StarHub has no involvement in.

The total acquisition price is estimated at S$105.1 million, which breaks down to approximately S$94.3 million for the remaining shares and over S$10.8 million for broadband assets. Notably, this amount will be offset by MyRepublic’s existing loan of S$74.2 million to StarHub.

StarHub’s CEO, Nikhil Eapen, expressed confidence that full ownership will strengthen the company’s foundation for growth and improve customer service. He also highlighted ongoing consolidation in Singapore’s broadband market.

This deal comes shortly after Keppel’s announcement of its sale of M1’s telecom business to Simba Telecom, a move initially expected to involve StarHub.

As Singapore’s broadband industry evolves, StarHub’s full acquisition of MyRepublic Broadband positions it to better compete and innovate in the growing market.
