STARHUB GETS 6 YEARS EPL BROADCAST RIGHTS IN SPORE

A 12 year streak by Singtel for holding the broadcasting rights for the English Premier League (EPL) in Singapore is coming to an end soon, as Starhub announced that they have gotten the rights to broadcast the top football league in the world for the coming six years, starting from the 2022/2023 season.

The 2022/2023 season will begin in August 2022 and pricing details for subscription will be made known in June 2022.

The EPL which features 380 games all season round will be screened on Starhub’s TV, mobile and broadband platforms in HD quality.

Starhub also said that they will have a richer interactive user interface and will feature new features such as Party Watch, split screens and performance statistics.

Football fans who wish to view the games can use the application to sign in, regardless of their broadband or service provider.

Current Singtel customers

Singtel, in response to media queries, said that it is of course disappointing that the company will no longer get to broadcast the EPL after the current season comes to an end.

They also want to reassure customers that they will still get to view EPL games live on Singtel TV with no disruption or unnecessary inconvenience just like how Starhub provided these services for their customers in the previous years when the broadcasting rights were with Singtel.

A measure in August 2011 also states that Pay TV operators have to ensure that any content which are exclusive have to be made available to other Pay TV operators under the Cross-Carriage Measure at the same price which other Pay TV operators pay.
