STREET NAMES WITH MORE THAN ONE MEANING IN SINGAPORE

A post on Facebook has showed some of the street names in Singapore which have other meanings in their own languages/dialects.

Here are some of the street names and we decided to explain what it means in case you guys do not get it.

“Kay Poh” is also know as busybody in the Hokkien Dialect.

When we say “kena rotan”, it means that we receive caning. It is a Malay term.

“Malu” in Malay means embarassed or shy.

“Cheow Keng” or “Chao Keng” is known as malingering in the Hokkien dialect and it is commonly used in our SAF camps.
