A young girl who ordered a stone pot rice at a prawn noodle stall decided to leave a tip together with an apology letter. The apology letter was due to her wasting the food as she could not finish her meal. The $2 tip was to compensate for the leftover food which she stated was her whole allowance for the day. She went on to say that she wasn’t hungry, to begin with, and she had to leave before she could finish her food.
Here was what was stated in the Facebook post by Chef Kang’s Prawn Noodle House.
To a customer who came on 17th July 2020 around 2.00pm
“On 17th July 2020 around 2pm, a customer wearing what we believe to be a CHIJ uniform visited us with (we think) her mother and sister for late lunch. Her mother and sister ordered 2 bowls of prawn noodle and she ordered a stone pot rice. Before she left, she left us a note and a tip. Her note really brightened our day and we were really touched. We valued this kind gesture deeply and the note’s encouragements meant a lot to our staff.
During this period of time, we were badly hit by COVID19. But nevertheless, we continued to work hard to pull through this tough period by improving our food and services. This note made us feel that our efforts were all worth it. We also feel proud to know that young children these days have been brought up and nurtured to have such kindness. We would like to thank not only her for her caring actions, but also her parents and teachers who played vital roles in inculcating such values in her.
