Despite tightened Covid-19 measures, students will sit for oral exams in person for Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE) and O-level this year.
Singapore Examinations and Assessment Board (SEAB) said that oral exams are conducted in-person to align with how students are taught languages through face to face communication in school.
“A change in the mode of the oral examination would result in candidates being less prepared to perform and interact with the examiners in an online setting,” SEAB said
“Face-to-face interactions also allow the oral examiners to observe the candidates more closely and provide prompts to candidates, if needed.” SEAB added
SEAB is working with schools to implement safe distancing measures, such as placing a clear plastic shield between students and examiners to ensure safety.
SEAB said that they will continue to observe the covid-19 situation and provide updates.
