SUSPICIOUS BAG STUCK ON MRT TRACKS, SCDF ACTIVATED TO RETRIEVE IT USING CRANES

TikTok user @jenita.darmento posted a video on 27 August showing officers from the Civil Defence Force in action.

The SCDF officers were seen in the video deploying a Combined Platform Ladder under the MRT tracks near Queenstown MRT station and trying to retrieve what appears to be a suspicious IKEA bag.

Jenita added that the SCDF officers took quite a while to retrieve the suspicious items, as they were wearing protective gears.

The mag was eventually freed from the tracks by one of the officers who used a metal tong, and it was then immediately checked to make sure that it was safe.

The netizen then asked the police about what happened, and they purportedly told her that it was nothing serious.

There were at least 3 SCDF and 5 police vehicles at the scene, and Jenita said it was her first time seeing so many officers around.

She then praised Singapore for taking safety to another level.
