TAIWAN BILLIONAIRE, 62 SUES MODEL 28, AFTER HE SPENDS S$4.8M TO WOO HER

Taiwanese billionaire Alan Yu, 62, founder of U.S. bubble tea chain Lollicup, has taken legal action against a 28-year-old model named Sharon. Alan accused Sharon of distancing herself from him after he spent a significant amount of money trying to woo her.

The pair first met when Sharon became an ambassador for Alan’s bubble tea brand last year. Alan quickly fell for Sharon and even contemplated divorcing his wife for her. He went on to spend over TW$110mil (S$4.8mil) on a luxury car and house for Sharon. However, their relationship took a turn when Sharon allegedly started distancing herself from Alan, using her period as an excuse.

Feeling scorned, Alan decided to sue Sharon in both Taiwan and the U.S. for allegedly scamming him. The High Court has since confiscated TW$50mil (S$2.1mil) worth of cash, a TW$6.5mil (S$278K) Porsche RV, jewellery, and luxury bags from Sharon’s house. Reports also claim that the police found an additional S$2.1mil in cash and a TW$2.45mil (S$105K) BMW in her apartment.

A reader has informed our publication that the police have launched a large-scale investigation into a fake seizure case involving Taiwanese bubble tea cup tycoon, Alan Yu, also known as Shi Zongming, and a model named C. The court and the police had initially planned to seize assets such as Hermès handbags, diamonds, and Porsche cars from C’s home, but she was not at home at the time, and the execution team only managed to seize a pair of Prada shoes and a Van Cleef & Arpels accessory. On the day of the fake seizure, the court and the police found that the most important targets were a Porsche recreational vehicle worth TW$65 million and a BMW sedan worth TW$24.5 million, but C had left home with the BMW, and the Porsche was nowhere to be found in the parking lot. The execution team discovered that C had driven to Lin Kou District in New Taipei City, which falls under the jurisdiction of the New Taipei District Court. The Shilin District Court has scheduled a later date for the seizure.

Sharon has since denied the allegations and asserted that Alan willingly gifted her the items as an apology for doing something wrong. Her lawyer also claimed that the S$4.8mil was what Alan used to woo Sharon, and that he had given her gifts willingly. Sharon’s lawyer emphasized that the money was a gift from Alan and that Sharon does not wish to countersue him, as the incident happened too long ago. They have left the case to the police to handle.
