TAIWAN CHILDCARE: USED 3 Y.O AS MOP AND DRAGGED HIM ALONG THE FLOOR

A disturbing incident has surfaced from a preschool in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, where CCTV footage captured a staff member dragging a three-year-old child across the classroom floor by the arm, treating the child roughly and with disregard.

Footage Shows Child Treated Like an Object

The case came to light after Kaohsiung City Councillor Li Ya-hui posted the security footage online. In the video, a female staff member is seen forcefully pulling the toddler by the arm for approximately 10 seconds. The child’s shirt is also pulled over their head during the ordeal, leaving the child disoriented and exposed.

The footage caused an outpouring of anger from the public, with many questioning how such behaviour could take place in an environment meant to be safe and nurturing for young children.

Parent Only Found Out After a Visit

The child’s father shared that he was unaware of what had happened until he visited the preschool later that day to pick up his child. He noticed his son seemed unusually withdrawn. When he asked the staff about it, they downplayed the situation, claiming the child had simply fallen down.

Unsatisfied, the father demanded to review the CCTV footage — and was shocked by what he saw. “This is not discipline. This is mistreatment,” he said, deeply upset by the images of his child being handled in such a rough and demeaning way.

Investigation Launched, Staff Member Suspended

The local education department has since launched an investigation. The staff member involved has been suspended from duties pending the outcome.

The preschool issued a statement promising full cooperation with authorities and pledging to review and improve staff training and child protection procedures.

Councillor Li, who brought the matter to the public’s attention, urged parents to remain vigilant and for authorities to take stricter action to prevent such incidents from recurring.

Public Calls for Accountability

Many members of the public are calling for the preschool to be held accountable, stressing that children must be protected from all forms of mistreatment — especially in educational settings.

As of now, the child involved is reportedly safe and has returned home under the care of his family.
