Taiwan Parents Hire Pole Dancers for Son’s Graduation, Police Called In

In a rather unconventional celebration, parents in Taiwan hired two pole dancers to perform outside their son’s secondary school for his graduation. The event took place on June 11, 2025, outside Taichung Municipal Wanhe Junior High School, and quickly drew attention from onlookers.

Police Intervention

The performance lasted approximately 20 minutes and attracted a crowd, prompting police to intervene and disperse the gathering due to disturbances to public order. Boys in school uniforms were seen taking photos and videos, while adults and young children looked on in confusion.

At one point, the dancers performed atop two jeeps equipped with dance poles, further escalating the spectacle. Following police intervention, one of the dancers was seen driving away in one of the vehicles.

Mixed Reactions

The boy, who was the center of this unique graduation gift, appeared visibly embarrassed and awkward when invited to stand between the performers. His mother, who orchestrated the event, stated that she wanted to create a memorable experience for her son, aiming to make their celebration stand out among other parents’ more traditional festivities.

“I wanted ours to be more creative than theirs,” she explained, adding, “I hope this will be an unforgettable graduation gift for my son.”

However, not all parents were pleased with the performance. One parent expressed disapproval, stating that such displays were inappropriate for secondary school students.

School’s Response

A school official commented that the institution did not endorse the performance and was unaware of the arrangements made by the parents. The official emphasized the need for more rational celebrations in the future, stating, “We will strengthen our educational efforts and encourage parents to celebrate graduations in a more rational manner, avoiding unnecessary expenses.”

This incident has sparked discussions about appropriate ways to celebrate milestones in education, particularly in a school setting.
