Taiwan Uncle’s Protest Goes Down The Toilet After He Allegedly Throws Own Faeces At Court

73-Year-Old Man Throws Own Faeces At Taipei Court After Years-Long Legal Dispute

A 73-year-old man in Taiwan was arrested after allegedly throwing his own faeces at a courthouse in Taipei, in a bizarre protest against the judicial system and a series of legal disputes that had left him dissatisfied.

The incident reportedly took place at around 6am on 27 October, when the man, surnamed Chen, arrived at the Taipei District Court in a car before carrying containers of waste to the building’s entrance.

He allegedly splashed the faeces onto the court’s signboard before throwing a bucket into the building’s lobby.

Man Allegedly Collected His Waste For Weeks

According to Taiwanese media reports, investigators believe the incident was planned in advance.

Chen reportedly purchased two transparent plastic containers from a hardware store and began collecting his own bodily waste in early October.

Weeks later, he allegedly drove from his home in Taipei’s Wenshan District to the courthouse, parked nearby and carried the containers towards the entrance.

The unusual protest left a strong smell in the area, with people who reportedly visited the courthouse later that day claiming online that the mess had been cleaned up.

However, the lingering odour was said to have remained noticeable even after the clean-up.

Dispute Involving Relatives Behind His Anger

Police investigations reportedly traced Chen’s grievances to a long-running dispute involving a company owned by his relatives.

Chen had invested money in the business but allegedly discovered around 15 years later that his name had been removed from the company’s shareholder registry.

He was subsequently accused of extortion, although the case was eventually dismissed.

Despite the outcome, Chen remained unhappy over the dispute and continued expressing his dissatisfaction.

He reportedly staged protests outside his relatives’ home, carrying flags and banners to air his grievances.

These actions later resulted in an aggravated defamation case, in which he was convicted and sentenced.

The series of legal battles is believed to have contributed to his anger towards the judicial system, eventually culminating in the incident at the Taipei District Court.

Arrested At The Scene

Officers from the Zhongzheng First Precinct arrived shortly after the incident and arrested Chen at the scene.

He is being investigated on suspicion of obstruction of official duties, property damage and unlawful confinement, according to reports.

Police also contacted Taiwan’s Department of Environmental Protection, which may impose additional penalties under the Waste Disposal Act.

Authorities reminded the public that dissatisfaction with court decisions should be expressed through lawful channels rather than disruptive acts that affect public spaces and court operations.

While Chen’s grievances reportedly stemmed from a lengthy legal dispute, his alleged method of protest has now resulted in further scrutiny from law enforcement.

The case also highlights how prolonged disagreements over business interests and legal proceedings can escalate, even decades after an initial dispute begins.
