Taiwanese gym influencer mocked online after trying to shame man for “looking” at her

A female fitness coach in Taiwan ended up deleting her own post after attempting to publicly shame a man she claimed was staring at her inside a gym.

The incident quickly exploded across social media platform Threads, but instead of receiving sympathy, the woman became the target of massive online criticism, with many netizens accusing her of being overly self-absorbed and seeking attention.

According to reports, the woman had placed her phone in the gym to film herself while exercising. During one part of the recording, she was seen tying her hair while wearing a sports bra before later uploading a selfie from the session online.

In her caption, she appeared unhappy that a man standing nearby had allegedly been looking in her direction.

“Just tying my hair only, what is he looking at?” she reportedly wrote.

However, the internet reaction did not go the way she expected.

Netizens say filming yourself in public naturally attracts attention

Many online users pointed out that recording oneself openly in a public gym would naturally attract glances from people nearby.

Several commenters criticised the woman for allegedly overreacting and assuming every glance from strangers carried inappropriate intentions.

Others also argued that people inside gyms often look around casually between sets, and that being briefly noticed in a shared public space should not immediately be turned into an online accusation.

The controversy soon escalated even further after a male user appeared in the comments section claiming he was actually the man standing nearby during the incident.

Man claiming to be “the guy beside her” fires back with shocking reply

The man’s response immediately went viral after he bluntly replied:

“I looked over because I smelled something bad. Your body odour was very strong.”

The savage comeback triggered thousands of reactions and shares online, with many users calling it one of the “most embarrassing reversals” they had seen on social media this year.

Screenshots of the exchange rapidly spread across Threads and other platforms, turning the original complaint into a massive online joke.

As criticism and mockery intensified, the female coach reportedly deleted the original post entirely.

Social media users warn others about “gym filming culture”

The incident has also reignited discussions about “gym filming culture” and the growing trend of people recording themselves in public workout spaces.

Some social media users joked that gym-goers now have to be careful where they look to avoid ending up accused online.

Others said the situation highlighted how quickly public shaming attempts can backfire when internet users feel the accusation is exaggerated or unfair.

The viral episode continues circulating online, with many netizens turning it into memes and warning others to “keep a safe distance” whenever someone is filming themselves extensively inside a gym.
