At the peak of noon, chaos unfolded as a taxi, losing control after colliding with a car, careened onto the pathway of the City Gate shopping mall. The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) promptly responded to the scene, conveying three injured individuals to Raffles Hospital. Another person, with minor injuries, declined hospitalization.

Eyewitnesses painted a vivid picture of the aftermath. A 62-year-old delivery man recounted seeing a damaged car and a taxi on the sidewalk. Additionally, a 30-year-old shop assistant reported the taxi’s burst tire and shattered front windshield. The injured pedestrians lay on the ground, conscious but undoubtedly shaken.

According to accounts, the collision occurred when the car was making a turn. The details of the damaged vehicles only intensified the severity of the incident. A shattered windshield and a burst tire testified to the force of the impact.

More than 10 individuals rushed to assist the injured, showcasing the communal spirit in times of crisis. SCDF’s role in providing immediate medical aid further underscored the importance of trained responders in such situations.

Police Investigation

Shin Min’s inquiries revealed that the 37-year-old car driver is actively cooperating with the police in their investigation. The authorities are piecing together the events leading to the collision, aiming to provide a comprehensive understanding of the incident.

ComfortDelgro, the taxi company involved, reported that the taxi driver sustained minor injuries. Their primary concern, they emphasized, is the well-being of the three pedestrians affected. The company is extending full cooperation with the police investigation.
