TAXI DRIVER BEATS RED LIGHT BECAUSE TIME WAITS FOR NO MAN

A video emerged online showing a red-coloured TransCab taxi beating a red light at a traffic junction with no regard for the law.

The incident happened on 2 April at about 11.12am.

The taxi was seen initially waiting at the red light, before deciding to go ahead and beat the red light and turning left.

Potential penalties

It is an offence to beat a red light in Singapore.

Drivers found guilty of failing to conform to traffic light signals face a composition fine of $400 for light vehicles and $500 for heavy vehicles.

They also face 12 demerit points and if a driver accumulates 24 or more demerit points within 24 months, their license will be suspended.
