An accident took place along the Central Expressway (CTE) heading towards the Ayer Rajah Expressway (AYE) on 22 May, sometime in the evening, resulting in the traffic being jammed because only one lane was left available due to the accident.
Facebook page Singapore roads accident.com shared footage of the aftermath of the accident on their page yesterday (23 May), showing the front half of the red-coloured taxi being pinned below the lorry’s left undercarriage.
The Singapore Police Force confirmed the accident and said that they received a call for help at about 8.25 pm, and a 52-year-old male taxi driver was found unconscious and sent to the hospital.
Two other elderly female passengers who were purportedly inside the taxi, a 74-year-old and a 76-year-old; as well as a 36-year-old male passenger who was inside the lorry at the time, were all conveyed to the hospital conscious.
At the time of writing, police investigations into the accident are currently underway.
According to a video posted online by TikTok user @manhunt2k, the accident had caused a snaking long traffic jam along the stretch of CTE near where the accident occurred.
The netizen said in his video that he was passing by the scene of the accident at the time and that the traffic conditions were still jammed at about 10.56 pm, more than 2 hours after the accident had taken place.
