According to police reports, a debtor’s note had been left on the unit’s gate, prompting immediate investigation. Officers from Bedok Police Division, aided by police camera footage and ground enquiries, managed to identify and apprehend the suspect within two hours of the report.

Case Linked to Other Harassment Incidents

Preliminary investigations indicate that the teenager may be connected to additional cases of loanshark harassment. Officers seized several items believed to be linked to the offences, including a mobile phone, three bicycle locks, and two debtor’s notes.

The suspect is set to be charged in court on 13 August 2025 under the Moneylenders Act 2008. For first-time offenders, the offence of loanshark harassment carries a fine of between S$5,000 and S$50,000, imprisonment of up to five years, and up to six strokes of the cane.

Police Warn Against Loanshark Activities

The Singapore Police Force has reiterated its zero-tolerance stance towards loanshark harassment. Offenders who vandalise property, cause nuisance, or disrupt public peace and safety will face strict legal consequences.
