A tragic incident occurred in Mexico City when a teenage boy, Julio Macias Gonzalez, died from a stroke that was reportedly caused by a love bite from his girlfriend. The 17-year-old was having dinner with his family when he suddenly had convulsions and collapsed. Emergency services were called, but unfortunately, Gonzalez passed away at the scene.
According to Mexican media reports, doctors believe that the suction from the love bite caused a blood clot, which traveled to the boy’s brain and resulted in a stroke. Gonzalez’s parents have blamed his girlfriend (24-years-old) for his death, and she is believed to be in hiding. The family had disapproved of the seven-year age difference between the couple, but their son had refused to break up with her.
This incident is not the first of its kind. In 2011, a 44-year-old woman from New Zealand experienced a minor stroke after receiving a love bite. She noticed symptoms such as loss of movement in her left arm while watching television. Doctors discovered a blood clot had formed due to the damage caused to a major artery by the suction of the love bite. The woman was treated with warfarin, an anti-coagulant, and made a full recovery within a week.
Dr. Teddy Wu, who treated the woman at Auckland’s Middlemore Hospital, reported the case in a medical journal. He emphasized the importance of seeking medical attention quickly, as further strokes could occur, leading to paralysis.
