The sweltering weather has since set a new record as temperatures reached 37°C at Ang Mo Kio on Saturday (13 May).

The 37°C is the highest recorded temperature in Singapore for the last 40 years, with the last highest recorded temperature (also 37°C) being equalled on 17 April 1983.

Additionally, several locations across Singapore also recorded temperatures that exceeded 36°C on Saturday, with the previous high of 36.7°C being recorded last year at Admiralty.

The National Environment Agency (NEA) added that the warm and dry conditions are expected to continue, although short rain showers are expected in the coming week which may help to lower the temperatures.
