Ride-Hailing Driver in Udon Thani Sparks Backlash After Allegedly Mocking Passenger’s Weight
A motorcycle ride-hailing driver in Udon Thani has come under heavy criticism online after a video surfaced showing him allegedly mocking an overweight passenger during a trip. The incident quickly went viral across social media platforms, triggering widespread debate about professionalism and discrimination in service industries.
The clip, which was first shared on Facebook, captured a heated exchange between the driver and the passenger while they were travelling. Many viewers condemned the driver’s remarks, saying the behaviour was disrespectful and unprofessional.

Heated Argument Captured on Camera During Ride
According to the video, the driver was heard criticising the passenger’s weight during the journey. He reportedly told the passenger that individuals who are overweight should avoid using motorcycle ride services.
The passenger responded by suggesting that drivers who refuse heavier riders should clearly display a notice informing customers in advance.
During the exchange, the driver allegedly claimed that refusing overweight passengers was common practice among motorcycle taxi drivers and insisted that cancelling rides for such reasons was not a major issue.
The passenger strongly disagreed, pointing out that the driver himself was not particularly slim and urging him not to judge others based on their appearance.
The argument soon escalated into a tense back-and-forth, with both parties raising their voices during the ride.
Passenger Claims Driver Intentionally Slowed Down
The passenger later explained that the ride had been booked through a ride-hailing application and that the journey initially began without any issues.
However, the situation reportedly changed during the trip when the driver began travelling at an unusually slow speed of around 20 to 30 kilometres per hour.
Concerned about missing a connecting bus, the passenger asked the driver if he could increase the speed. According to the passenger, the driver then responded by saying the motorcycle was difficult to balance because of the passenger’s weight.
The driver also allegedly admitted that he had been reluctant to accept the ride from the beginning because of the passenger’s body size.
Feeling offended by the remarks, the passenger took out a mobile phone and began recording the conversation.
