Drama Between Thai Singer Koo Toey and Ex-Wife Kanom Escalates Online
The Thai entertainment industry has once again been shaken by controversy involving well-known luk thung (country) singer Koo Toey Apiwat and his former wife, Kanom Sasikarn. Photos showing Kanom with apparent injuries sparked a storm on social media, raising speculation about domestic violence and damaging the singer’s public image.
The uproar began when Kanom’s close friend, Phupha, shared a cryptic message online, suggesting that hidden truths would soon be revealed. This post quickly went viral after being shared by a popular gossip page, which alleged that the singer had harmed his ex-wife. The page even uploaded images of a woman’s arm injuries alongside a man holding an unidentified object, with captions warning against “twisting the truth.”

Koo Toey, however, immediately denied the allegations. He clarified that the incident was not related to him attacking the mother of his child. Instead, he claimed he was merely stopping a heated argument in which others nearly got into a physical altercation. Angered by the accusations, the singer declared that he would be taking legal action against those spreading defamatory rumours online.
Lawyer Responds and Clarification from Ex-Wife

To further strengthen his defence, Koo Toey’s lawyer, Nobita, issued a statement refuting the claims. He stressed that people were wrongly blaming the singer for every conflict that arose, and warned that those who intentionally misled the public would face legal proceedings in court.
Adding to the confusion, Kanom herself later posted on social media to clarify matters. She explained that she had never accused Koo Toey of assault, stating: “I wasn’t beaten. I only got hurt because I tried to break up the fight and got caught in the middle.” Her statement helped to cool tensions, though heated debates online have continued.
Meanwhile, other associates of the singer hinted that video evidence might exist to clear Koo Toey’s name. One of them, Teh Thunder, remarked that in today’s world, protecting oneself often means recording incidents for proof, especially when accusations spread so quickly online.
Netizens Draw Parallels to Singapore Celebrity Dramas
The case has divided Thai netizens into two opposing camps: some believe Koo Toey’s account, while others remain sceptical. For Singapore audiences, the drama is reminiscent of past local celebrity controversies, where rumours spread faster than facts, and public figures were forced to defend themselves against viral speculation.
Much like in Singapore, where defamation suits have been used to protect reputations, Koo Toey is relying on the law to clear his name. Whether video evidence will surface remains to be seen, but one thing is certain: the incident highlights how quickly gossip can escalate online, threatening careers and personal lives alike.
