Few years ago, I was caught playing mobile games in the office by my manager. It was almost 9pm, I had to stay past hours because I did not “clock enough hours” for the month (company has mandatory xxx hrs per month rule) I did not clock enough hours previously because I always left work early to pick up my kids from preschool.
I always left work early because my own work was done ahead of schedule. I also helped my colleagues finish their work, to the point there was nothing else for me to do at 9pm. My kpi was 200% without OT.
But company rule say I must clock xxx hrs a month, plusI am not allowed to do any freelancing/study in the office, so I played games in the office till 9pm a few nights almost every month. (childcare was arranged to accomodate for this) I left the company after the manager chose to promote his good friend instead of me because I had less years in the team than the friend.
Despite my 200% kpi, he still sees me leaving office early to fulfill my motherly duties as working less than his lunch buddy friend at 70% kpi.
Damn sian so I started my own biz now I drop off and pick up my kids whenever I like and don’t have to pretend to work on paper until 9pm for some cock rule hehe
