The Next National Day Parade Will Be Held In The National Stadium

Singapore’s National Day Parade (NDP) in 2026 will make its return to the National Stadium at the Singapore Sports Hub, Defence Minister Chan Chun Sing announced during the 2025 NDP Appreciation Function on 19 August. The event will mark the nation’s 61st birthday celebrations.

It will be the first time in almost a decade that the NDP is held at the National Stadium, with Minister Chan promising that the occasion will not only be about a change in venue, but also about “fresh ideas and fresh performances.” He called on Singaporeans and participants to contribute suggestions to make SG61 a more meaningful and inclusive celebration, highlighting that the Sports Hub allows for creative possibilities and wider community involvement.

Minister Chan also shared that while the Padang and NS Square have traditionally hosted parades, the Sports Hub provides a chance to experiment with different concepts for parades, ceremonies, and performances. NS Square, which is being developed at Marina Bay, is expected to be a future permanent venue for the NDP.

Fresh concepts for SG61

In line with the government’s push for innovation in national events, Minister Chan expressed optimism that NDP 2026 will be more participatory, involving a greater range of performers, volunteers, and community groups. He stressed the importance of adapting the parade to reflect Singapore’s evolving identity while retaining its patriotic spirit.

Acting Minister for Culture, Community and Youth David Neo also joined in the announcement through a TikTok video of himself skydiving, symbolising the bold and dynamic vision for next year’s NDP. In his post, he expressed excitement about “welcoming NDP back” to the National Stadium, reinforcing the message that the event will combine tradition with new experiences.

Looking ahead to NDP’s evolution

The decision to bring NDP back to the National Stadium reflects a broader vision of making the celebrations more accessible to Singaporeans from all walks of life. With its large capacity and modern facilities, the Sports Hub is expected to host grander displays, from aerial segments to immersive multimedia performances.

As preparations begin, the organising committee will be seeking ideas from Singaporeans to shape SG61 into a memorable showcase of national pride. For many, it will be a chance to witness NDP at the Sports Hub once again—an opportunity to celebrate Singapore’s journey in a venue designed to unite large crowds under one roof.

NDP 2026 promises not only to honour the nation’s past but also to reimagine its future celebrations, reinforcing the values of unity, resilience, and creativity that define Singapore.
