THOUSAND GATHERS AT MOSQUE FOR PRAYERS IN INDONESIA

According to the media release, during Hari Raya Puasa thousands of people were spotted gathering at the mosque for prayers in Indonesia. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many countries had implemented preventive measures to fight the virus.

In Indonesia, some of these measures were relaxed to allow people to celebrate Hari Raya Puasa.

Indonesia is one of the countries with the most Muslim population, the government had implemented travel bans within the country. But the measures have been temporary relax, hundreds of mosque in Indonesia had open up to allow people to come for prayers. People were requested to wear a face mask and observe social distancing.

However, these measures were not followed as reported by the media. Many people were spotted without a mask and failed to keep a safe distance from one another.

As of 24 May 2020, 524 new COVID-19 cases were reported in Indonesia. This has tallied the total number of cases to 22271. The death reported had increased to 1371 with 21 new death reported.
