Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department director Comm Datuk M. Kumar confirmed the arrests, which took place at approximately 1.40am on Monday, 18 August, near Jalan Alor Bukit in Kulai. The suspects, two local women and one man, were apprehended after being spotted acting suspiciously in a car by a police patrol.

Upon inspection, officers discovered several plastic packets containing substances suspected to be syabu, heroin, marijuana, and ecstasy pills in one suspect’s bag. A further search of the vehicle revealed a 9mm semi-automatic pistol, a 9mm silencer, one magazine, and 175 live 9mm bullets concealed in the front bonnet compartment.

Investigation Links Suspect to Robbery at Masai Clinic

Comm Kumar stated that forensic evidence indicates the man was involved in a robbery at a private clinic in Masai on 19 July. During the incident, the suspect reportedly entered the clinic alone and threatened a 43-year-old female victim with a firearm, forcing her to place cash and jewellery into a bag.

“The suspect fled the scene on a motorcycle after firing a shot,” Comm Kumar said. A sling bag left behind at the clinic counter was found to contain several packets believed to hold heroin. The suspect was later identified through ongoing investigations.

All three suspects, aged between 18 and 42, have prior criminal records ranging from two to 23 offences, with one testing positive for drugs. They are being investigated under Section 4 of the Firearms (Increased Penalties) Act 1971 for displaying a firearm while committing a scheduled offence, Section 8 for unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition, and Section 39A(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for heroin possession.

Viral Video of Clinic Robbery Surfaces

On 21 July, a short video capturing the robbery attempt went viral online. The 31-second clip shows a helmeted motorcyclist firing a shot at the clinic before falling, quickly getting up, and fleeing the scene while holding a pistol-like object.

Authorities have urged members of the public with any information related to the case to come forward, emphasising the seriousness of firearm and drug offences in the region.
