Three Traffic Police (TP) officers are being investigated after they were allegedly caught riding in an unsafe manner near the Traffic Police Headquarters in Ubi.
The incident was reportedly captured on a vehicle’s dashcam at around 3am on 4 September along Ubi Avenue 3. Footage of the incident was subsequently shared online, showing three TP officers on motorcycles making a series of abrupt manoeuvres before entering the Traffic Police Headquarters.
The Singapore Police Force (SPF) confirmed that it was aware of the incident and said investigations were ongoing. The authorities added that appropriate action would be taken against the officers if necessary.
Officers seen making abrupt lane changes
In the footage, two TP officers travelling on motorcycles can be seen changing lanes shortly after completing a turn. They appeared to pass through a narrow gap between a taxi and the vehicle fitted with the dashcam.
The two motorcycles then moved ahead of the dashcam vehicle before turning into the Traffic Police Headquarters at 10 Ubi Avenue 3.
Passengers in the vehicle could be heard expressing concern about the officers’ riding behaviour, with one person commenting that the TP officers were riding dangerously despite being police personnel.
A third TP officer was subsequently seen approaching from the left side of the dashcam vehicle.
The officer then made an abrupt right turn from the left lane, moving across the path of the vehicle before overtaking it.
Dashcam driver forced to brake
The manoeuvre appeared to force the driver of the dashcam vehicle to brake suddenly to avoid a collision.
Passengers in the vehicle could be heard reacting angrily to the incident as the motorcycle continued towards the Traffic Police Headquarters.
The footage has since drawn attention online, particularly because the riders involved were Traffic Police officers whose duties include enforcing road safety and traffic regulations.
