According to a resident staying at Tiong Bahru, a couple staying in a 4-room HDB flat was shocked when they received an outrageous among of electric bill from SP Group.
Looking at the chart below, the consumption jumped almost by 8 fold to $1,086.77.

“This month’s bill came, and what a shocker! To set the context we are a young couple staying in a 4-room hdb flat , we rented from hdb while waiting for our BTO.
is only 2 of us and the usual appliances. When I called SP i was told that the meter reading was done in January and accounts for 10months since the last meter reading. It was supposedly more than the estimate and hence its been added into this month’s bill.
I had been paying my bills on time and its roughly about $100-&120 a month.I had 2 questions:1) did they actually think it was okay to lump 10month’s worth of electricity usage into one bill and expect the home owner to pay?2) should they review their processes.
Accordingly, the bill suggests a gross underestimate of previous bills, which had been paid. Now it just seems like ive been holding a block party every other day “
Netizens advise the man to change to other providers to save cost from the SP’s tariff rates.
