TODDLER DIES AFTER 166KG MIRROR FELL AT CHANGI JEWEL

An 18-month-old baby has died from a head injury after a mirror fell on her head. State Coroner Kamala Ponnampalam released the findings on 21st April 2020.

The incident happened back on 23 August 2019, the PRC family came to Singapore for holiday and while waiting for their flight home, they were shopping at Changi Jewel.

The family went shopping, the mother of the child left the toddler and 6-year-old brother behind along with their grandmother at Urban Revivo retail store.

The 6-year-old brother and a friend of the toddler’s mother squeeze into a gap behind the heavy mirror causing it to fell.

The toddler was standing straight in front of the mirror when the incident happened.

Mother heard screams

The mother heard people screaming and ran back but to see the toddler crushed under the mirror and bleeding and the grandmother trying to lift the mirror from the crushed toddler.

The toddler was sent to the hospital but died later that day.
