TOYOTA VAN BEATS RED LIGHT BECAUSE DRIVER THINKS RED LIGHT = GO

A video emerged online showing a Toyota Hiace van blatantly beating a red light without even slowing down.

The incident happened on 15 January at around 11.59am, along Boon Lay Way.

The van which was seen with the words “NDT & Inspection Specialist” pasted at the back, was seen signaling to to filter onto the right lane.

The driver then drove past the traffic light, which had been red for some time.

Potential penalties

It is an offence to beat a red light in Singapore.

Drivers found guilty of failing to conform to traffic light signals face a composition fine of $400 for light vehicles and $500 for heavy vehicles.

They also face 12 demerit points and if a driver accumulates 24 or more demerit points within 24 months, their license will be suspended.
