However, the visitors can only interact with the people in and within the zone(s) of the travel bubbles, as well at the activities within.

Hartato said that the decision was undertaken to drive tourism in the two islands, with the Covid-19 situation in both Bintan and Batam having been stable.

Should begin soon

According to Tempo, the Indonesian Minister for Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno, said that the travel bubble should begin soon.

He added that Joko Widodo, the Indonesian President, has already approved the launch of “limited public traffic” between the two countries.

Previously, the travel bubble between Singapore and Indonesia’s Riau Islands was previously canceled back in October last year due to Singapore’s Covid-19 situation.

Set of requirements

Indonesia’s Covid-19 task force released a set of requirements for Singapore travelers to enter Batam and Binton.

Travelers from Singapore can enter Batam via the Nongsapura International Ferry Terminal and then proceed to the travel bubble at Nongsa Sensation.

Travelers from Singapore can enter Bintan via the Bintan Telani Ferry terminal before proceeding to the Lagoi Bintan Resort.

They would have to show their visa as well as proof of confirmation and payment of their travel bubble package, along with any digital or physical proof of their Covid-19 vaccination status (vaccinated at least 14 days before departure for the islands).

A negative PCR test is also required to be taken a maximum of three days before departure.

Travelers would also be required to register with Indonesia’s E-HAC digital health service, as well as download the BluePass and PeduliLindungi apps whilst within the bubble.

Health insurance of at least $30,000 is also required to cover the cost of Covid-19 treatment and medical expenses should they be infected whilst there.
