TRAVELLERS BEWARE! FLOODS IN PENANG, OVER 6000 EVACUATED!

Media sources indicate multiple areas of mainland Penang, Penang Island, and Kedah are flooded after heavy rain. Approximately 6,000 people have been evacuated in the area.

Updated sources report that seven people have been killed and approximately 3,000 people have been evacuated in Penang. Affected neighborhoods include Kampung Permatang Rawa, Kampung Benggali, Kampung Simpah, Kampung Ooi Leng Hooi, Kampung Padang Lalang, Tanjung Bungah, Jalan Perak. Dozens of houses in multiple villages were damaged, and a landslide has damaged a road in Tanjung Bungah. Military personnel have been deployed to assist with relief efforts.

Over 3,000 people have been evacuated in Kedah. The most impacted areas include Kulim District and Kuala Muda District. Use caution and avoid flooded areas.
