On Sunday (11 September) afternoon, the area near City Plaza witnessed an alarming event as a colossal tree unexpectedly toppled over, landing on several vehicles and temporarily trapping motorists.

Videos shared on various social media platforms, particularly TikTok, provided a glimpse of the chaos that ensued.

The footage depicts members of the public swiftly rushing to aid those affected by the incident. Bystanders, driven by a sense of urgency, joined forces in an attempt to clear the tree branches from the cars.

One TikTok video unveiled the extensive wreckage caused by the fallen tree. The scene was marred by tree branches sprawled across cars and roads, creating a precarious environment for those in the vicinity.

SCDF’s Swift Response

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) promptly reacted to the emergency. Upon receiving a distress call at approximately 12:55 PM, SCDF despatched a team to the accident site.

One person was assessed for minor injuries but otherwise declined conveyance to the hospital.

LTA’s update on the situation

Following the incident, the Land Transport Authority issued an update on Twitter (now known as X) at about 1.18pm, stating that there had been an accident along the Tanjong Katong Slip Road, near the junction of Geylang Road and Tanjong Katong Road.
