Aljunied GRC MP and Leader of the Opposition Pritam Singh shared how a tree behind Block 102 Bedok Reservoir Road was uprooted on 30 April at about 5am due to the wind and wet weather.
As a result, the deep roots of the collapsing tree had damaged a water supply main and disrupted the water supply to some units in the block.

The wind and wet weather early this morning caused the uprooting of a tree behind Blk 102 Bedok Reservoir Road at around 5am today.
Unfortunately, the deep roots of the collapsing tree damaged a water supply main causing a water supply disruption to some units in the block.
However, the PUB team was on hand early in the morning with their appointed contractor to undertake repairs. Work was completed by mid-morning with water supply restored quickly.
I dropped to have a look at the site in the late morning. The PUB team was in the midst of reinstating the excavated soil and the Town Council’s horticulture contractor was preparing to remove the affected tree.
I spoke to the PUB staff on site who patiently explained to me why some main pipe fractures take longer to repair than others. Today’s required a simple clamp joint to resolve.
Thank you PUB for the help! Looking at this evening’s weather, fingers crossed you don’t have to respond to anything similar!
