Two Foreigners Behind Armed Robbery Gang Shot Dead by Police in Kuala Lumpur

KUALA LUMPUR – Police have shot and killed two foreign men suspected to be the ringleaders of a violent housebreaking and armed robbery syndicate that has caused over RM3 million (S$870,000) in losses across several states in Malaysia.

The fatal encounter occurred during the early hours of Friday (25 July), around 3.45am, when officers from the Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and Pahang CID intercepted the suspects’ car in Taman Pertama, Cheras. The operation was carried out under Ops Aman 6, a crime prevention initiative.

According to Deputy Commissioner Datuk Fadil Marsus, Acting CID Director of Bukit Aman, the suspects reacted violently when officers attempted to stop their vehicle. “They rammed our patrol cars and opened fire, leaving us no choice but to return fire,” said DCP Fadil. Both suspects were pronounced dead at the scene.

Syndicate Tied to More Than 50 Break-Ins

The car the suspects were travelling in had been reported stolen in Subang Jaya in 2023. A search of the vehicle uncovered a revolver, a semi-automatic pistol, various housebreaking tools, and a stash of drugs—suggesting that the duo was en route to carry out another robbery.

Police believe the two men were key operatives in a larger 15-member foreign syndicate that targeted high-end homes—particularly bungalows and corner terrace units—in the Klang Valley, Negeri Sembilan, Perak, and Pahang. The gang, active since 2022, is known not only for theft but also for injuring their victims during break-ins.

Police Hunting Down Remaining Gang Members

Investigations are ongoing, and police are now working across state lines to track down the remaining 13 members of the syndicate. “We are leaving no stone unturned. Joint efforts with police from Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Perak, Pahang, and Negeri Sembilan are already underway,” DCP Fadil stated.

So far, the syndicate has been linked to over 50 reported cases. However, authorities suspect there may be more victims who have yet to come forward. The public is urged to report any suspicious activity or provide information by lodging a police report at the nearest station.

Authorities Reaffirm Tough Stance Against Violent Crime

“The CID has zero tolerance for violent crimes that compromise public safety. We will not hesitate to act decisively to keep our streets safe,” DCP Fadil emphasised.

This decisive police action underscores Malaysia’s commitment to curbing cross-border organised crime and sends a strong signal that violent syndicates will not be allowed to operate with impunity.

High-Cost Per Click (CPC) terms such as home security systems, anti-burglary solutions, and private security services may become more relevant as residents across affected areas look for added protection in the wake of such incidents.
