Overview
A troubling case has surfaced in Muar, where two men are now facing court action after being accused of taking advantage of a young woman with special needs. One of the men has admitted to the act, while the other is contesting the charges.
What Happened
The first man, 25-year-old Mohamad Shazalan Fikri, who works at a plantation, was brought to court for allegedly forcing a 19-year-old differently-abled girl into inappropriate acts. He showed up at the Muar Second District Court and pleaded guilty before Judge Sayanie.
According to the case details, the incident took place in the early hours—between 2 and 4 AM—on June 7, 2025, at a budget stayover spot in Muar. It was reported that he made her perform actions that are not considered “standard” and crossed major boundaries.
The second man, 34-year-old Mohamad Izwan, who works at a laundry shop, was also accused of the same type of misconduct. He, however, pleaded not guilty.
Both are being charged under a serious section of the law that can lead to up to 20 years of lock-up time, with extra punishment possible.
In Court
After confessing, Shazalan is expected to hear his sentence on June 20. Izwan was given bail of RM10,000 with one guarantor and must return to court on July 22 to sort out paperwork and get a lawyer.
So far, neither of them has hired any legal help. The case is being handled by Deputy Public Prosecutor Osman Afwan.
Separately, Izwan is also facing another case at the Muar First Magistrate’s Court for allegedly having a small amount of a banned substance on June 9 in Batu Pahat. He denied this, and the court will revisit that case on September 19 after a lab test.
Conclusion
This case brings attention to the safety of vulnerable folks and the importance of justice being served. More updates will be shared as the situation unfolds.
