In a dramatic turn of events, two teenagers were arrested in Clementi after allegedly attempting to rob a man of his luxury watch. The incident occurred on May 28 at approximately 1:44 PM at Block 432 Clementi Avenue 3, where the victim had arranged to meet the suspects for the sale of the watch.

Details of the Incident

According to police reports, the two suspects attempted to cover the victim’s head with a plastic bag during the meeting. One of the assailants was armed with a knife, escalating the situation. Fortunately, the victim managed to escape and promptly called the police for assistance.

Responding officers from the Clementi Police Division quickly identified the suspects through follow-up investigations and apprehended them later that same day. A knife, which had been discarded by the suspects, was also recovered by the police.

Further investigations revealed that the two suspects, aged 17 and 19, were not acting alone. They, along with two additional accomplices, had allegedly attempted a similar robbery just a day prior, on May 27. In that incident, another victim was lured to the same HDB block to sell a luxury watch but became suspicious and left before any robbery could take place.

All four suspects were arrested on May 28, and the police are taking the matter seriously. The two teens involved in the May 28 incident are set to be charged with attempted armed robbery on May 30. One of the other suspects from the previous day’s attempt will also face charges for attempted robbery, while the fourth individual will be investigated for conspiracy to commit robbery.

Public Safety Advisory

In light of these incidents, the police have issued a warning to the public to remain vigilant when meeting potential buyers or sellers for transactions, especially when dealing with valuable items. They advise individuals to avoid secluded areas and to report any suspicious behavior to the authorities immediately.

As the investigation continues, the police are committed to ensuring the safety of the community and preventing similar incidents in the future.Bookmark messageCopy messageExport
