According to Deutsche Welle, about 5,100 anti-tank weapons that were co-developed by Singapore, Germany and Israel, have been purchased by Ukraine.
The acquired weapons are reportedly the RGW90 HH Matador, that were bought from Germany’s Dynamit Nobel Defence for 25 million euros.
About 2,650 of the Matadors have arrived in Ukraine, with the remaining 2,450 to be delivered to Ukraine by the end of next month.
The Matador, as those in the Singapore Army’s infantry units are familiar with, was co-developed by the SAF and Singapore’s Defence Science and Technology Agency (DSTA), in partnership with Germany’s DND and Israel’s Rafael Advanced Defence Systems.
It is an anti tank weapon that is able to fire up to 500 metres, with a velocity of 250m per second, boasting of a 90mm calibre “missile” inside, and it weighs about 10kg.
It is a “fire and throw” (according to my platoon sergeant back in the day) disposable weapon.
The Matador is able to destroy targets on the ground such as battle tanks, bunkers, light armoured vehicles, and tonners.
