Ukraine’s state nuclear agency said in a statement on 2 April that their Ukrainian flag has been raised over the Chernobyl nuclear plant after the invading Russian forces withdrew.
This comes in the wake of the agency announcing on Thursday that Russian forces were suffering significant doses of radiation and are withdrawing from the site.
They said via a statement on Telegram
Today, April 2, at 11:00, the flag of Ukraine was solemnly raised over the Chernobyl NPP and the anthem was sung
The entire staff of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, which has worked heroically in the harsh conditions of the occupation since February 24 and provided nuclear and radiation safety at the station and nearby facilities, gathered for the ceremony.
Let the Ukrainian flag fly and the hand of the occupier not touch it anymore!
Glory to Ukraine!
The Ukrainian Ministry of Defence also tweeted
Russian occupiers left Chernobyl nuclear power plant. Two key reasons: losses caused by the Ukrainian army and radiation exposure. Russian mutants lost this round of @stalker_thegame.
Russian occupiers looted Chernobyl nuclear power plant before retreating. They could not conquer Ukraine, so they took kettles, lab equipment, and radiation. This only applies to those who survived, though.
