On May 16 at Block 130 Bukit Merah View, a 65-year-old man was arrested by the police after locking himself up in a unit and arming himself with a knife.
A netizen noticed that there were police vehicles around the HDB block and took photos. The police received a call for help at 4.05 pm.
A police spokesman said “When officers arrived, a 65-year-old man had armed himself with a knife and locked himself inside a residential unit at the location,”
“As it was assessed that the man might pose a danger to himself, officers from the Crisis Negotiation Unit, Special Operations Command and Singapore Civil Defence Force responded to the incident.” the police added
The police was able to get into the unit at about 5.40 pm. The man was then arrested. No injuries were reported so far.
