A video of a man drinking beer on the MRT is circulating on social media. He is drinking beer and talking on his phone loudly without wearing his mask properly.
From the video, the man explained that he is chasing for his salary payment over the phone. He seems to be very annoyed after being approached by the police.
It is understandable that everyone is going through a hard time during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, this should not be an excuse for people to behave irresponsibly. Eating and drinking were not allowed on MRT. During this period of time, all commuters are required to wear a mask when taking public transport.
The man was later escorted out of the train by the police.
According to the law, anyone caught for not wearing a mask while out in the public will be fine for $300 and $1,000 for repeated offenders.
