A video emerged online showing a man shouting at another commuter inside an MRT for brushing against him on the North East Line.
The incident happened on 5 June at about 8.45pm.
The man wearing a black vest-hoodie (with his mask not being worn properly over his nose), was seen in the video shouting at the younger man for touching his backside.
The commuter had apparently accidentally brushed against him when walking past him, and the man then started shouting at him.
He said “SAY EXCUSE ME! DO YOU UNDERSTAND! EH DO YOU UNDERSTAND THE WORD? ANSWER! I SAID ANSWER! DO YOU UNDERSTAND THE WORD! SAY EXCUSE ME!”
Another commuter was filming the incident at the time and tried to intervene, to which the man then turned around and shouted at him “EH F YOU!”
He then added that “I got my right to ask people not to touch my backside! don’t be a kaypoh! you kaypoh! not your problem!”
Others tried to intervene, and faced hostility from the man.
Another computer told the man that the train is a public space, to which the man then retorted: “PUBLIC YOUR FATHER PLACE AH! CAN TOUCH BACKSIDE AND GO IN AH?”
The man later alighted at Boon Keng MRT station after another commuter made a call for assistance.
