Here is what he said

Felt sad to see this man eating leftovers at Waterloo hawker center and decided to buy him a yummy $5 chicken briyani meal which he quickly finished.

He looks homeless with his bags and speaks incoherently. He doesn’t really look familiar to us as we ply Waterloo area frequently.

I was happily tucking in my own briyani when I saw him sitting down and consuming some leftover food and teh tarik.

Our eyes met and he signalled me to purchase for him some fresh food – maybe he recognized me.

It’s a simple request to meet as we have being distributing lunch packs weekly at Waterloo.

We just wish that hawker stalls are kind enough to pass him a simple meal if they happen to see leftover-food consumers plying the area.

Waterloo also has one of the highest leftover food consumers and though we are there regularly to distribute free meals weekly, we may have miss some along the way.

It is estimated that Singapore has close to 100 leftover-food consumers mainly concentrated in elderly matured estates such as Chinatown, Bendemeer, Beach Road, Toa Payoh, Redhill, Ang Mo Kio, Waterloo among others.

If you happen to see someone eating off the table, please buy them a meal – that will do wonders for them and restore their faith in humanity.
